Pro Tips
Walk the whole street once before you shoot anything. Just look.
Look for light
A sunny patch, a shadow line, or a glowing window.
If you're shy about people, photograph hands, feet, or people from behind first.
Locations
Zones, checkpoints, and areas to visit during the challenge
Tasks
Frame 1 · Wide street
A wide shot showing the whole street.
Show both ends of the street in one frame.
The street's full length is visible.
Step back or cross the road to fit it all in.
Phone: 1x lens, grid on.
Frame 2 · Small detail
One small detail, like a door handle, a crack, or a sticker.
The detail fills at least half the frame.
One small object is clearly the subject, with little background.
Look at doors, walls, and the pavement at arm's length.
Phone: 2x lens or move closer, tap to focus on the detail.
If 2x is blurry, use 1x and step closer.
Frame 3 · A person
A person, or a sign that people were there.
A real person or a clear trace of one; no posed friends except from your group.
A person, or something a person just left behind, is the main subject.
Wait in one spot and let people walk into your frame.
Phone: 1x lens, burst mode ready.
Photograph a trace instead: a parked bike, a coffee cup, footprints.
Frame 4 · Sign or number
A sign, a word, or a number.
The text or number must be readable.
Someone else could read the sign in your photo.
Shop signs, house numbers, and street plaques all count.
Phone: 1x lens, tap to focus on the text.
Frame 5 · Reflection
A reflection in a window, a puddle, or a car.
The reflection is the main subject, not a side detail.
Something is clearly visible mirrored in a surface.
Crouch near puddles or shoot shop windows at an angle.
Phone: 1x lens, tap to focus on the reflected image.
Use a car's side mirror or a polished door.
Frame 6 · Low angle
A shot from very low, near the ground.
Camera no higher than your knees.
The photo clearly looks up from near the ground.
Rest the phone on the ground and tilt it up slightly.
Phone: 0.5x or 1x lens, held upside down so the lens is lower.
Frame 7 · Look up
Something above eye level, like a balcony, wires, or the sky.
Point the camera upward at least 45 degrees.
The subject is clearly above eye level.
Look for balconies, wires, gutters, and rooflines.
Phone: 1x lens, lock exposure on the subject if the sky is bright.
Frame 8 · Strong color
A strong color.
One color stands out clearly from everything else.
A viewer's eye goes straight to one strong color.
Doors, bikes, umbrellas, and graffiti are good bets.
Phone: 1x lens, slightly lower the exposure to deepen colors.
Frame 9 · Light and shadow
Light and shadow.
Both light and shadow must be visible and important.
The photo shows a clear contrast between a bright area and a dark one.
Look for sunny patches, window light, or a shadow line on a wall.
Phone: 1x lens, tap the bright area and slide exposure down.
On a cloudy day, use a lit shop window or a streetlight.
Frame 10 · Your choice
Your free choice: the photo that best sums up this street.
It must be different from your other 9 frames.
You can say in one sentence why this photo sums up the street.
Look back at your 9 photos first and notice what's missing.
Phone: whatever settings you liked best today.
