Your composition challenge
Each team will be assigned one composition — Leading Lines, Rule of Thirds, or Symmetry Break — based on the group size and skill mix on the day.
Shoot as a team
Teams shoot together and select their single best shot to represent the group.
One composition. One team. One shot.
During the post-event socializing, the winning team presents their best photo to the full group — the final moment of the session.
Tasks
Group activities, ice-breakers, and things for participants to try
Leading Lines
Find a street, alley, bridge, or tram track that draws the eye deep into the frame. Place a subject along that line — a pedestrian, cyclist, or vendor. The goal is depth and a natural path for the viewer's eye.
Rule of Thirds
Divide your frame into a 3x3 grid and place your main subject at one of the four intersection points rather than dead center. Let the remaining space breathe — an empty street, a wall, the sky — to give the image balance and visual tension.
Symmetry Break
Find a symmetrical scene — a facade, staircase, or fountain. Then wait for one person to enter one side of the frame. Human disruption of perfect order = the shot.
